Welcome to this week’s tidbits! Where cheese is the bee’s knees, tasty feasts are highlighted, a new restaurant is open in Hood River, and a farm co-op highlights a salad with locally sourced ingredients. Enjoy!

The second annual Great Gorge Melt is going on right now. Throughout March, local participating restaurants serve up their take on the classic grilled cheese sandwich or quesadilla. When you purchase one of these dishes, a portion of the proceeds goes directly to Columbia Gorge Food Bank to support hunger relief in Hood River County and nearby Wasco and Sherman Counties. Stoked Coffee Roasters has fresh breakfast sandwiches! Choose from vegetarian, bacon, or sausage. Come on down to the waterfront and try one!

Rivertap Pub in The Dalles will begin opening 7-days a week on Monday, March 10th. Enjoy breakfast, lunch, and dinner from 8 AM to 10 PM.

Smokewring BBQ in the Dalles is back open for the season, Monday-Friday 11-5, Ribs on Fridays. Instagram.

Big Jim’s Drive In is now open in Hood River! They’ve taken over the former Ranch Drive-In and offer fresh, made-to-order meals while keeping the nostalgia alive. Stop by for a burger, fries, or a hand-spun milkshake, and check out the new spot!

Henni’s in White Salmon is hosting a special Monday feast on March 17th with Marianna Annio of Pietraventosa featuring her exceptional organic wines from Puglia, Italy. Join them for Primitivo! Tastes of Puglia, where Chef Christiaan will prepare a delicious lineup of specialty bites from Bombettas (grilled pork & cheese wrapped in prosciutto) to Orecchiette Pasta with Sunday Sauce, Beef Braciole with Braised Greens, and Dolce & Amaro dessert. Don’t miss out!

Gorge Farmer Collective recently shared a beautiful image of a breakfast Salad featuring lettuce by 3 Corners Farm. Gorge Farmer Collective is a co-op-owned online marketplace offering food from dozens of Gorge-area farmers. Buying from the collective supports local agriculture.
